Year: 2020
Project type: Logo & Identity Design
Design Brief
Develop a visual identity to rebrand a non-government organisation. Include a logo, style guide and mockups of design collateral.
Solution
I produced a conceptual visual identity for Cultivate NSW, representing the importance of nature, connection to community and unique Australian context of the charity
Cultivate NSW is a charity that provides horticultural therapy to help people struggling with mental and physical illnesses.
The logo was designed to reflect the importance of nature in the charities work, their focus on community, and the type of support they provide to their clients. The colour palette was inspired by the Australian landscape and native plants, reinforced through the imagery of eucalyptus leaves. I created an abstracted C shape to act as the logos background, referencing the charity's name while also alluding to the sun.
I created my own Illustrator brush to produce the watercolour effect. The typefaces chosen have a simultaneous professionality and playfulness reflecting the approachability of the organisation. The handwritten style of the secondary typeface alludes to the grass-roots level work of Cultivate NSW, and their hands-on approach.
This project required the logo to be produced in full colour and monocolour, as well as being applied across multiple formats including social media and relevant design collateral mockups.
